El año terminó. Ese verano “Cada vez que te vas” se puso de moda. Todos la amamos. Una pena no haber dejado que la profesora la tocara: ahora podríamos haberla cantado y no estarla inventando.

The last day of school, the English teacher, with the objective of us taking a nice memory of her and her class, proposes to listen and write down the lyrics of a song. She proposes “Every time you go away”, by Paul Young. We don’t know it. She takes out a cassette and plays it. We all look at each other with disgust, spoilt teenagers, “what a lousy song”. Nobody pays attention to it and we all start throwing ideas and choose a song that, for all of us, was in the air.
The year came to an end. That Summer “Every time you go away” was a hit. We all loved it. A real pitty that we did not let the teacher play it: now we could have been singing instead of inventing it.
