Cuando era niño, un domingo de primavera en la tarde, este lago estaba lleno de gente andando en bote.

El lago sigue existiendo, y la gente que renta los botes, también.

Pregunté cuánto cuesta rentar un bote. 60 $ por 45 minutos, me dijeron. El equivalente a 14 usd.

Yo no sé si es caro o es barato, porque todo es relativo. Pero algo tiene que estar fallando, si en todo el lago había un solo bote paseando, en plena tarde de domingo en primavera, y en el lugar de amarre había docenas de botes vacíos y 4 personas al pedo tomando mate.

When I was a child, any Sunday afternoon of Spring, this lake was full of people riding in boats.

The lake still exists, and the people who rent the boats as well.

I asked how much it is to rent a boat. 14 usd for 45 minutes, they told me.

I don’t know if it is expensive or cheap, because everything is relative. But something has to be wrong, if all over the lake there was only one boat riding, in the middle of a Sunday of Spring, and at the dock there were dozens of empty boats and 4 people loitering while drinking ‘mate tea’.
