Los jíbaros, conocidos como los “reducidores de cabezas”, acostumbran a reducir los cráneos de sus enemigos. Este ritual significa que su enemigo vivirá en la oscuridad para siempre. Se me hizo muy poético su gesto de relacionar el tamaño de la cabeza con la oscuridad: hay un discurso acerca de la ignorancia y cómo así se manifiesta la dominación.

The Shuar people, known as the head shrinkers, reduce the skulls of their enemies. This ritual means that their enemy will live in the darkness forever. I thought this to be a very poetic gesture: the relationship between the size of the head and the darkness: there’s a story about ignorance and that’s how domination happens.
