Hay una práctica oratoria moderna que realmente me desquicia: es que, cuando alguien del público hace una pregunta, el interrogado no responde a la pregunta sino que se va por la tangente y nunca habla del tema. Esta práctica es más común a los políticos, pero ahora se ha universalizado. Este sujeto al que me refiero, hablando de su práctica curatorial, habló sin rumbo durante una hora. En un momento un asistente le hace una pregunta. Él habla media hora de cualquier cosa sin responder a la pregunta. Hasta que dice "creo que no tengo una respuesta a tu pregunta pero…" y habla media hora más.

Cuando me preguntaron qué me había parecido la presentación no pude decir otra cosa que “maravillosa”.

There’s a modern oratory practice that really drives me crazy: and it’s that when somebody of the audience asks a question, the examined person doesn’t answer the question, on the contrary he goes off at a tangent and never talks about the topic. This practice is generally shared by politicians, but now it has universalized. This character I’m referring to, talking about his curatorial practice, talked aimlessly for an hour. At a given moment someone attending the lecture asks him a question. He talks half an hour about anything without answering the question. Until he says ‘I think I don’t have an answer to your question but…’ and he talks half an hour again.

 

When I was asked what did I think of the presentation there was nothing else I could say that ‘wonderful’.
