La obra de teatro era bastante compleja.  El escenario estaba dividido en 3.  En cada sector transcurría una historia que se relacionaba con la otra pero en tiempos diferentes.  De un lado, un señor que había traicionado a un amor durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial y que escribía notas en secreto a escondidas de su enfermera.  Del otro, una muchacha encarcelada por matar a un hombre era presionada por el guardia cárcel para apelar a su sentencia de muerte.  En el centro, un joven oficial que maltrataba a una mujer víctima de los campos de concentración.

Una señora en el público, sentada detrás de mí, le dice a su amiga: “¡es el hijo! ¿ahora entendés?”

No sé si había tal relación en la historia, o entre qué personajes se daba, pero lo cierto es que su comentario me condicionó la interpretación de toda la obra y al final salí sin entender nada, pensando que mi deber era descubrir cuál era el hijo y cuál era el padre o la madre a los que esta señora se refería con tanta convicción.

The play was pretty complex.  The stage was divided in 3.  In each area there was a story happening that related to the others but in a different time frame.  On one side, a man who had betrayed his love during the World War II and wrote notes in secret without letting his nurse notice.  On the other side, a young woman locked down in prison for killing a man was pressured by her guardian to appeal her death sentence.  In the center, a young officer mistreated a young woman victim of concentration camps.

A lady in the audience, sitting behind me, says to her friend: “he is the son! do you get it now?”

I don’t know if there was such relationship in the story, or between which characters it was established, but the truth is that her comment conditioned my interpretation of the whole play and in the end I left without understanding anything, thinking that it was my duty to discover who was the son, and who was the father or the mother to whom this lady was referring to with such conviction.
